LAIAC is designed for professionals who already deal or seek to deal with international arbitration, and advanced students. The program is not restricted to lawyers in private practice, it is also suited for in-house counsels and government or public sector professionals who deal with arbitration.

Applications will be received during two periods. Candidates are encouraged to apply during the first application period if they want to secure their spot in this program as less participants will be admitted during the second round of application.

The 2020 LAIAC edition will take place in Buenos Aires from 20 July 2020 to 31 July 2020.

Applications and deadlines

Applications periods and deadlines for the 2020 edition of LAIAC are:

  • First Round
    • Application period: 11 December 2019 to 31 January 2020 midnight
    • Deadline: The deadline for submitting your application in the First Round is 31 January 2020 midnight, time of Buenos Aires (GMT – 3)
    • 45 participants will be admitted in the First Round of application.

  • Second Round
    • Application period: 1 February 2020 to 31 May 2020
    • Deadline: The deadline for submitting your application in the Second Round is 31 May 2020 midnight, time of Buenos Aires (GMT – 3)
    • 15 participants will be admitted in the Second Round of application.

Application Procedure

Applicants shall submit a complete file via the online application platform, which will be made available in the course of December 2019. The following documents will be required by the applicant to submit an application:

  • A completed application form;

  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae/résumé;

  • A personal statement/essay demonstrating the applicant's interest in the field of international arbitration, including concrete examples if possible (Max. 500 words);

  • One letter of recommendation from either an academic (teachers/supervisors) or professional. Scanned copies are accepted.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all documents supporting its application are received in one PDF file via the online application platform by the aforementioned deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be considered for admission by the Executive Committee.

Who should apply?

The course should primarily be designed for:

  • Advanced law students enrolled in a postgraduate degree, or PhD candidates.


Applicants in the 1st round of admissions will be informed of the Executive Committee’s decision regarding their application by 15 February 2020.

Applicants in the 2nd round of admissions will be informed of the Executive Committee’s decision regarding their application by 7 June 2020.

Upon notification of admission, successful applicants will have 10 days to pay a non-refundable 1st instalment of USD 100. The deposit will be applied to the tuition fees. The remaining sum shall be paid within the next 20 days. Therefore, full payment of the successful applicant’s tuition fees shall be transferred within 30 days upon admission to LAIAC. All banking information will be provided to successful applicants within the admission email.

Successful applicants are also encouraged to begin their visa applications as soon as they are admitted to LAIAC.


Tuition Fees

Tuition fee for LAIAC is USD 2’000.

Government officials benefit from a reduced tuition fee of USD 1’600 .

Students benefit from a reduced tuition fee of USD 1’200 subject to them providing a proof of affiliation to an academic institution/university.

The tuition fees include all program materials and daytime refreshments. They do not cover accommodation nor travel expenses.

LAIAC is delighted to inform that, thanks to the support of generous Sponsors, LAIAC offers a limited number of scholarships in the form of full and partial fee waiver. These scholarships will be available for outstanding applicants who demonstrate a need for financial aid. 


Attendance to LAIAC

All participants having fully attended the Lectures and Courses will receive a LAIAC Certificate of Attendance with indication of equivalence in European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System credits (4 ECTS credits).
